Reflections and Hope
This past week I have remained quiet as I was taking a week to reflect this past year, and to sit and wonder what the New Year has in store for us.
Back when I was a child I recall my father saying that the older you get the faster time flies, of course as I have aged over the years I have found this to be so true, and now my own 2 children are starting to see this as well, The oldest daughter made the remark she is now officially HALF done with her college degree ..in her mind set upon graduation 4 years of college appeared to be overwhelming and now she is the one saying..."Where did time go?"
I reflected this past year,....last year just before Christmas I lost my twin sister, due to bone cancer, then just before the 31st of Dec last yr I got a call from my Dr that my mammogram was abnormal which brought on more tests and and anxiety.....crossed over into 2009....only to find all was good....and I was told I was one of the lucky women that day and to make sure I come back in a year, My year soon up middle of January and I know I need to make the call and go get the job done!...My hope for the new Year will be to have the same results..or the strength to deal with what ever comes my way.
Then we began the farm work, gardening, fighting rains and just a stress full year, but the garden gave us bountiful harvest as well as the crops, even if we did harvest the crops until December 19. We have much to be thankful for! My hope for the New Year will be to have us have a safe harvest, a garden that is plentiful.....the rest the Lord will handle for us.
I did move up in positions at work, I went back to school., got my license to handle and pass medications at at work, which I do an average of 3 days a week, the rest of the time I work in physical therapy and give reiki treatments....My hope for the new year...to increase my knowledge in pharmacology and reach more people in reiki.
This past summer I did open a room in my home for Reiki and Massage, clientele has been wonderful, business continues to grow, word continues to spread. My Hope for the New Year will be to continue to reach the people that need to be reached....perhaps even hold 2 classes in the year for Reiki I and Reiki II.
I took a couple of classes online to become more creative, to open up the creative cycle and just listen to the inner voice and create instead of being so scared of what doesnt look right. My hope for the new year, ...continue to be creative....continue with some online support groups.
I am not one to make resolutions, but I do like to add a challenge in my life now and then, and learn from them and grow from them.......but this year I am undertaking a few challenges, some lifestyle changes, so gonna post a few of my new challenges for the upcoming Year, I promise it is short!!
1. If you wish to participate pay a visit!
2. Healthy eating...I need to lose some weight....my goal this year...Ill be happy if I can take off 35 pounds~..so eating better and exercising more!!
3. more organized...this is my largest downfall in my sewing and craft room its a MESS.....so I know same song and dance.... more organized and less procrastination!
Not bad, My wish for all of you in blog land to be healthy and hope that 2010 bring all you seek and wish for sooooo until Next year!!! Be well~

Winter blahs

Nothing really new here, Becky is in full swing in Basketball....tomorrow night will be her third game, so far they lost both games, but not by much....so they have good potential....and no doubt will be a fun season!!
Well until the next time!!

Some more of my stitches I am doing for creative every day I am loving this as it really makes me take just a few minutes of me time and try just one thing that I have always wanted to do just never did it! But none the less here is my work or shall I say stitches in progress such as they are....I worked on the feather stitch and this so far in this new found art is my favorite stitch!!
Any how that's all from here, looks like a beautiful sunny day for the men to run in the fields again, we have approx 5-8 days left depending on the weather and how fast we can go...it is still wet and so many of the men cant get in their fields....so again I guess we are very fortunate! So now off I go to catch up on laundry and some house work and of course some stitching!!

Frustrating Fall and Just Random Thoughts
A line of beet trucks waiting to get dumped.
This is just a glimpse of the mud we have fought for equipment in and out of the fields.
A semi load of sugar beets coming my way headed to the beet dump.
A peek at our farm from a distance....was a welcome view after a day of shopping and getting a hair cut.....

What a week.
An update for the kids......the three in the crash.....the girls underwent 7 hours of facial reconstruction, and she is stable and able to respond by wiggling her toes on command and also grasping their hands....great news!!
One of the boys from the Glenwood area, he is undergoing a third surgery today, 10 hours worth, but is able to respond as well by gripping hands and waves...
the other boy from our area has fought a very hard battle, yesterday his parents made the decision to pull the life support system, and donate organs, so at this point as I am typing this, they are keeping him stablizied to support the major organs,
Please keep these three families in thoughts and prayers,
My niece suffered a severe concussion, she was released yesterday afternoon, and has 2 sprained ankles, she is home and resting and doing fine,.
One of the nice things about living in a small community, people have come out of the woodwork in support of all three kids in the accident......
On a brighter note....I went yesterday and bought some stuff to begin working on my reiki studio... Our bedroom just isnt the right space for this and clients are getting up in numbers I feel I need a private space.....so that is my project for today for a few hours any how, and then put some stuff together for a demonstration on here on the basket making.................
Hope you all have a great Saturday,

Thursday
Hubby finally went to the Dr today after coughing and being sick for a month, come to find out hes got a bacterial infection in the bronchi.... so now hes got some good antibiotics to hopefully kick this gunk!
It has been a very hard week for us here, the three kids in the accident that I spoke on earlier....
One of the boys has had 2 surgeries so far and needs many more....hes got some colon damage, both legs and both arms broken, he can however respond by lifting his hand up a bit and squeezing his parents hands,...His mom told me today that he got his first shower and they cut his hair, tomorrow will be hopefully a day of the *dead* colon removal, they need to bandage up his legs again....and also going to place a trachea in so they can work on his mouth and jaw....
The girl is stable, medication induced coma since she arrived at the hospital....shes got mutiple skull and facial fractures......now as I write this she is in her first of multiple surgeries.... she did however today open her eyes and look at her dad and sister....and she can hold up hands when prompted ....so this was a good sign as well...
The third child the young man that graduated with my oldest daughter he is still on life support,....he has swelling in several areas of the brain....which places preassure on the brain stem. Yesterday was his best day as it was reported that he had began coughing and was also moving his fingers,.... but today now he has taken turn backwards and not doing as well,
So prayers please keep them coming!!
I will this weekend try to get a blog set up on how to do the baskets....I think placemeats would be awesome to make useing this method!!
Until the weekend .......have a great Friday!
coming back in and adding an edit,......got a call from my sister in Oklahoma.....my niece who is also a college student fell off her horse and was air lifted out to a hospital....testing in progress now....*sighs*

I passed!!
I was soo looking forward to being done, not driving any more, no more lunch breaks in the car to study for a test, no more emailing and calling up 2 other fellow co-workers to hash out some ideas on some problems.....as we got out of class for the final time yesterday we 3 decided to go to kentucky fried chicken for our final supper out....was awesome, we shared notes and study guides and ideas we can incorporate,.... Was fun for all three of us to get to know one another, and kindle some new friendships..... I am going to miss these days!
Now it leaves me to wonder what on earth I am going to do with my Tuesday and Thursday evenings.....hmmmmmmmmmmm.......
Any how....today I had the day off.....Got the house pretty much cleaned up along with a few yard ornaments....gave 3 massages today...and now catching up on blogs and contemplating!! As hubby says..... "It's never good to have too much free time"
Speaking of hubby,....only got 35 acres out so far in the soy beans, Still too wet and sounds like we got more snow and rain mix on the way later this evening... I have a feeling we will have our thanksgiving in the combine this year.
Any how, until next time!!

Rain Rain Go Away
Why is it when we have no sun, lack of good O'l vitamin D, we want to sleep? I got home from work yesterday and laid down and took a three hour nap and was still tired....Total fight today to come home and NOT lay down!!
This is the final week of classes!!! Take our final test on Thursday, I am looking forward to no longer driving 50 miles twice a week! Time to settle in and start some serious sewing!!
Ohhhhh speaking of sewing, I went to a Quilt show that I will either later tonight or for sure by end of the week will share some awesome photos,. Quilt show was in Watertown SD, quilts large and small from all over the U.S. after walking through there made me feel like I need to really take some serious classes in this art as my stitching is nothing like theirs!
Let see, I did get the office painted and it looks great, I got all the carpets shampooed and they look great too, wish it would all stay this way!
Any how, a chili supper is brewing and I have some cornbread to make yet, until later on happy blogging and stay warm!

Fantastic weather!
Tomatoes are turning fast in the garden, I can't keep up, but not cause of them...just too many irons in the fire!
I got the office painted this weekend plus got the carpet in there shampooed! Amazing how much better a coat of paint looks on a wall! Sure brightened it up! Once upon a time that room was gray walls with a black stripe at the top and decorated all in reds and blacks, mainly this area belongs to my husband and he collects International tractors and such, so we themed that room just for him then last week he tells me its too dark so this week I said lets do it!! He got to pick the color (white) Blah... I personally love color but he would have all white floors and walls if Id let him! So maybe this week Ill get the art work hung back up and get a photo posted!
School is going very week, 2 weeks down 4 to go! We have had some serious study time..each night in class we cover approx 3 chapters then next class meeting we have a test! So far in 4 tests I have missed 4....Makes me feel good!! Pharmacology isn't as bad I thought it was going to be!
Tomorrow my baby turns 17! I cant believe it! She so proud of he r job and own money and checkbook and she gets to run all the errands ect.......soon the kids will be gone and it will be just dad and I.......hmmmm maybe I can cut back in work time then!! Well I can at least dream!
Well that's all from here so hope you all have a great week!

Fall is near
Got one week of classes down and man let me tell ya for a woman that is 45 years old, to learn to STUDY again is TRAUMA! LOL. Not too bad so far, already in chapter 5 and only 2 nights of class, so very fast paced...not sure how I did on the 2 tests we had....I know the one with 35 questions I missed 5....UGH so gonna have to read more on the laws.
Hubby and I both have been suffereing with terrible back pains, I have for a few weeks been hitting the chiropractor twice a week, and still no relief,. man pain is terrible and I ant sleep well at night, just miserable! Been doing over time at work and still do reiki on the side and school and garden its starting to catch up with me I guess! Does this mean Im not 20 any more? :(
The garden has been good to me, Im still picking Zuc's and tomatoes, got 1 row of beets to do and of course spuds in the ground but other than that the rest are done. So soon will come to a close too.
We went out to supper tonight with some friends that we have not seen forever from SD. I noticed on the drive down that the bean fields are starting to turn.. I know this means harvest is right around the corner for us!
Oldest is back in Marshall and settled back into the college life and loves it! This weekend our youngest went down there to stay with her sister and hang out before her high school classes begin next week,...yep fall is right around the corner!
Hope you all have a great weekend and a safe one! Till next time~

Threshing show
I stood over by the bench ans snapped this of the dining room table that sits smack in the middle of the room...
across from the bech in the other corner was the bed and a pair of old overalls,
A loom, and old china clost, I have a similar closet like this down in my basement pantry that I actually place my canned goods in, It belongs to my husbands grandparents, same color and everything.
The 450 international used to be my fatherin laws, its been restored my husband uses it in the threshing days ...today we did a tractor oull with it and he pulled 168 feet.

Some vacation
This is how my morning began yesterday, managed to find some ripe hudden tomatoes, greewn peppers ready to chop and freeze for salsa green beans and zucc's and of course a great hit cup of java to keep me sane!!
This is one batch of beets and small green batch I did for my daughter to take up to school with her... She even asked me just a bit ago if I wsa planning to make more so she could have her beets and green beans from home all winter!! Now did I raise her right or what! :)
The other morning when I left to go get the books at the college, I came back home to get the camera, as this is what I saw in our wheat stubble. loaded with geese!!
Today has been a busy one, helping the oldest get her stuff in line for move out day on Thursday, laundry and more laundry...yesterday we went to Willmar dor groceries and a mom and d aughter day out, She bought some new jeans and a few tops and a pair of shoes, so she is all set I guess....

Fun Friday!
I met up with 2 other co-workers and we took off for for a local college and all 3 signed up to take a class in medication assistant, this is a 6 week course in pharmacology and certifies us for passing meds in any medical setting....Now this is a kicker as we get our books, take off for the closest restraunt and all have breakfast together, and all of a sudden I realize I am the oldest here, which they delighted in the little brats! we sat and visited and went through our books, contemplated travels and costs and food....the classes will be for 6 weeks, 2 nights a week...beginning Sept 1...Now that is not far off!! YIKES
After we ate, we went to the local mall and all 3 hit the bookstore finding out we all had similar hobbies and intrests, art, reiki and jornals, I bought a new book on embroidery stitches and picked up the lastes quilting arts magazine and bought a new journal to do in this adventure, I have a feeling as some new friendships grow this will be a fast 6 weeks and yet a challenge, but needs to be done.
I got home and now back to normal with more beets being prepared to be placed in the canner yet tonight and still get some laundry caught up. Not too bad of a day if I say so my self and finally caught up in reading blogs!
Ya I know stressful!! :) Have a good evening all and a great weekend!

Tuesday Thoughts
I am still working on the sewing room/craft area...man I really need to reorganize and clean this mess up...I already have one very large box of just random books and things to send out to salvation army...In the midst of my cleaning I came across a box of OLD old photos from like 10 years back! So gonna get some of them sorted today as well as the rest of my fat quarteres moved...yep an all day project !!
I thought I would share with you a few little events happening in our lives through-out the summer months!
Hubby and daughter getting ready for a parade last weekend, our daughter (youngest) is the Threshing Queen, she has been in 11 parades this summer so far and gives up her royalty in August! It certainly has been a fun year of eating events and and parades, meeting new people and just haveing fun!
Ok, not exactly what I have in mind but I want to create and GREEN background and tried to fill the area with palm trees, not good I know but practice makes perfect, I like the tiger and not sure if I will keep that as is or not but is gonna be MAYBE my painting subject LOL,. subject to change though!Friday, July 10, 2009
Its Friday!!!
Yesterday I was assisting hubby out by the grain bins, he decided to add a ring onto one to make more capacity for storage, simple enough right?
WRONG, after 2 hours of bending over with air wrench and lord only knows how many nuts and bolts taken out...we were part ways done!
Today I go to get out of bed and my lower left backside is in PAIN, it is slightly swollenand I took some tylenol and hit the old ice pack and groaned!
Not to mention I have been moving furniture and cleaning..Oh ya and I am moving my crsfting and sewing back to the basement, the little room just could not hold all of my stuff....now do i really need to clean out or what,
Which remind me...I like so much...I sew, crochet, cross stictch, trying to learn to paint by influence of my sister!! I also do embroidery work, collect nuemrous things,....I am luterally running out of room,...how do you choose just one thing to do..or choose to downsize...My fabric stash alone could fill a wall of a bedroom easily..I have s ome stuffed in totes, Im talking like 6 totes, I have 3 large shelves for fat quarters....one alone for books....LOL well I am sure you get the picture by now, I really do need to organize and clean out but how and where to begin when i love doing it all and want to learn more?
Ok so thats my brain picking for the day gonna go hit the bed and some ice packs again and HOPEFULLY dull the pain by morning!
have a great weekend gang!

Wednesday Wisdoms

Oh man another hot day in Western Minnesota!...but still cool in the house so not turning on the air ....*whew* just might make it to the 4th and no AC yet!/
Kids are still busy working...I am proud of my daughters, earning and saving their way to things they want and places they wish to go to....Certainly helps a lot!
However my youngest this week had a terrible dose of reality hit her when a fellow classmate of hers was killed in an accident, new family within the year here and my daughter said even though she was not best of buds with the guy he was a great young man and everyone liked him....so she is now at 16 going to her first funeral outside of a family member.
My husbands uncle took a bad turn in his battle with cancer this week too....right now in the hospital and not certain what lies ahead there...so dare I say concern and stress all rolled into one...
Makes me think hard about this life of ours and all it holds for us, perhaps is a wise thing we can not see into the future.
I also dug out my water colors, tried to duplicate the floral painting we learned to do in class....well why is it it turns out MUCH better in class than at home on my own...*Sighs* BUT I did end up with a very pretty green background out of the cobbled up mess....LOL But Ill keep trying! Might turn those into ATC's.
I think tomorrow will be a heavy garden day for me when I get home...weeds and watering, radishes are all eaten up and not too much longer peas will be ready!! Oh FUN happy canning and freezing!!
Any how I am gonna work on another collage so will close this tonight and wish you all the best of what is left for the week!
