Frustrating Fall and Just Random Thoughts

It has probably been one of the most stressful falls I have seen in the 20 years I have been married to a farmer! Wet wet wet.....its rained we had 2 inches of snow mixed with rain yesterday...all I can say for that was it was pretty how it hung on the trees...We have managed tog et 130 acres of beans out on the high ground but the low stuff we have to wait until it freezes, at this rate we will still be trying to combine the corn in January unless we have a wonderful Novemeber!.......Any how the good thing that came out of some of this is one rainy day hubby says to me...why dont ya go do some Christmas shopping so we are not so pressed for this in December.....soooo along the way

I stopped in Clara City MN, a very small quilt shop called Shades of the Past... the owners name is Darci and she has some gorgeous fabrics and specializes in different wools, shes got a scrap bin that I raid each time I go! A very welcomeing place to go hang out if you ever get that way!
Along the drive over to Willmar MN I saw the beet farmers were busy pileing beets... a far away shot but still shows some of the process.

A line of beet trucks waiting to get dumped.

This is just a glimpse of the mud we have fought for equipment in and out of the fields.

A semi load of sugar beets coming my way headed to the beet dump.

This is taken right outside of Milan MN along HWY 40, this is why we cant harvest most fields look like this! :(

A peek at our farm from a distance....was a welcome view after a day of shopping and getting a hair cut.....
Now to get back to some normal in my life or at least what I call normal...the oldest daughter is home from college this weekend for a funeral of a former classmate and is heading back to Marshall tomorrow... always good to see her and play catch up on the events in her life.
Any how thats all the news from here, Hope you all have a great weekend and a safe halloween!

What a week.

Not very often I have aweek that zaps my entire energy or just makes my head spin but this week truly did it for me.....

An update for the kids......the three in the crash.....the girls underwent 7 hours of facial reconstruction, and she is stable and able to respond by wiggling her toes on command and also grasping their hands....great news!!

One of the boys from the Glenwood area, he is undergoing a third surgery today, 10 hours worth, but is able to respond as well by gripping hands and waves...

the other boy from our area has fought a very hard battle, yesterday his parents made the decision to pull the life support system, and donate organs, so at this point as I am typing this, they are keeping him stablizied to support the major organs,

Please keep these three families in thoughts and prayers,

My niece suffered a severe concussion, she was released yesterday afternoon, and has 2 sprained ankles, she is home and resting and doing fine,.

One of the nice things about living in a small community, people have come out of the woodwork in support of all three kids in the accident......

On a brighter note....I went yesterday and bought some stuff to begin working on my reiki studio... Our bedroom just isnt the right space for this and clients are getting up in numbers I feel I need a private space.....so that is my project for today for a few hours any how, and then put some stuff together for a demonstration on here on the basket making.................

Hope you all have a great Saturday,

Thursday

We are still not able to combine yet, perhaps by the weekend.....

Hubby finally went to the Dr today after coughing and being sick for a month, come to find out hes got a bacterial infection in the bronchi.... so now hes got some good antibiotics to hopefully kick this gunk!

It has been a very hard week for us here, the three kids in the accident that I spoke on earlier....

One of the boys has had 2 surgeries so far and needs many more....hes got some colon damage, both legs and both arms broken, he can however respond by lifting his hand up a bit and squeezing his parents hands,...His mom told me today that he got his first shower and they cut his hair, tomorrow will be hopefully a day of the *dead* colon removal, they need to bandage up his legs again....and also going to place a trachea in so they can work on his mouth and jaw....

The girl is stable, medication induced coma since she arrived at the hospital....shes got mutiple skull and facial fractures......now as I write this she is in her first of multiple surgeries.... she did however today open her eyes and look at her dad and sister....and she can hold up hands when prompted ....so this was a good sign as well...

The third child the young man that graduated with my oldest daughter he is still on life support,....he has swelling in several areas of the brain....which places preassure on the brain stem. Yesterday was his best day as it was reported that he had began coughing and was also moving his fingers,.... but today now he has taken turn backwards and not doing as well,

So prayers please keep them coming!!

I will this weekend try to get a blog set up on how to do the baskets....I think placemeats would be awesome to make useing this method!!

Until the weekend .......have a great Friday!

coming back in and adding an edit,......got a call from my sister in Oklahoma.....my niece who is also a college student fell off her horse and was air lifted out to a hospital....testing in progress now....*sighs*

One Scarf done

Kind of a close up of the scarf....just 3 layers of fleece....nice and warm..and of course being the basketball player she wanted basketball fleece...

She really likes the scarf...no complaints so far,......this is my youngest daughter

Kind of blurry but you get the idea....
Not hard to make...from start to finish I was done within 30 minutes...buy a solid color...and a contrasting color or design...they are cut in 9 inch widths...(one solid and two of the contrasting)....sandwhich the pieces so the solid is in the middle and then sew down the middle....I did a double seam....1/4 inch apart as I know how hard this girl can be on things!! then just cut one inch strips..being carfeul not to cut the middle seams..... taa daaa a scarf!!
Have a good week ahead!

I passed!!

Well I am finally and officially done with my medication assistant class, was a 6 week class, turned out to be 7 due to one being cancelled,....which was great as it gave us all a longer weekend to s tudy for finals!!

I was soo looking forward to being done, not driving any more, no more lunch breaks in the car to study for a test, no more emailing and calling up 2 other fellow co-workers to hash out some ideas on some problems.....as we got out of class for the final time yesterday we 3 decided to go to kentucky fried chicken for our final supper out....was awesome, we shared notes and study guides and ideas we can incorporate,.... Was fun for all three of us to get to know one another, and kindle some new friendships..... I am going to miss these days!

Now it leaves me to wonder what on earth I am going to do with my Tuesday and Thursday evenings.....hmmmmmmmmmmm.......

Any how....today I had the day off.....Got the house pretty much cleaned up along with a few yard ornaments....gave 3 massages today...and now catching up on blogs and contemplating!! As hubby says..... "It's never good to have too much free time"

Speaking of hubby,....only got 35 acres out so far in the soy beans, Still too wet and sounds like we got more snow and rain mix on the way later this evening... I have a feeling we will have our thanksgiving in the combine this year.

Any how, until next time!!

Rain Rain Go Away

Well right now looking out I can see nothing but mud holes, wet fields, crabby farmers and depressed people due to lack of sunshine!

Why is it when we have no sun, lack of good O'l vitamin D, we want to sleep? I got home from work yesterday and laid down and took a three hour nap and was still tired....Total fight today to come home and NOT lay down!!

This is the final week of classes!!! Take our final test on Thursday, I am looking forward to no longer driving 50 miles twice a week! Time to settle in and start some serious sewing!!

Ohhhhh speaking of sewing, I went to a Quilt show that I will either later tonight or for sure by end of the week will share some awesome photos,. Quilt show was in Watertown SD, quilts large and small from all over the U.S. after walking through there made me feel like I need to really take some serious classes in this art as my stitching is nothing like theirs!

Let see, I did get the office painted and it looks great, I got all the carpets shampooed and they look great too, wish it would all stay this way!

Any how, a chili supper is brewing and I have some cornbread to make yet, until later on happy blogging and stay warm!
